I have a bunch (8 I think) of mixed chicken eggs under a broody Muscovy, along with several of her own eggs. I *think* they are on day 14, but I'm going to steal the chicken eggs a bit early just to be sure, so they'll be in the bator in a day or two since someone said the duck will kill baby chicks. I think the Muscovy eggs aren't fertile (I've never yet seen the drake do his thing, and the others of hers that I stole to put in the bator weren't fertile.)
I've ordered a HB genesis but three business days later still haven't got confirmation that it's been shipped *sigh* guess I'll use the LG and spend several days obsessing. I'll probably hatch a few of my BR as soon as they start laying to verify fertility--right? Plus then the babies should be laying in the spring for more hatching eggs. lol
I'm trying to tell myself I don't need to buy any farm-fresh eggs just for the joy of seeing what kind of birds pop out--it is getting late in the season, and I am already rather tight on coop space, but I know I won't listen to myself if I stumble across some. lol
