What's it gonna take?

I have a really great pond stocked with alot of very old, large fish. They are now dying by the dozen. I hope it rains soon here too.

Its so dry here, I mowed the "weeds" for the first time in 6 weeks yesterday and I felt like I was in a dust storm. If you walk outside the ground just crunches. It rained south of us about 3 inches last week and we got one tenth of an inch

Its always supposed to rain but it just drys up or disappears before it gets here.

My son asked me yesterday is this the worst it's ever been, I told him in near 18 years... I can't recall an August when I didn't mow the grass. So far, no mowing. The last hard drought we had that I recall was in the mid 1980's.
I don't have large livestock, but I feel for those who do, round bales of hay are going for near $50.00 around here. Seems to me that the government needs to step it up. They provide relief with loans etc, what about shipping in hay and alfalfa to farmers who are desperate. I know the other side of the US is in better shape than we are. I wish there was a red cross dept. that could truck the stuff in for them.
This type of drought damage is long term. A couple of inches of rain won't get it, but it would be a blessing.

Yeah, hate to say it,but it'll take a tropical storm or hurricane for us to get some relief. There's a system out in the gulf that may come towards Texas then maybe come our way.

We are starting to dry out here as well.Oh that water bill is gonna hurt.

HEAT HEAT HEAT!!!!!!!!! Although we have gotten a little bit of rain, it's been more of a tease than anything. I'm just grateful that we have well water rather than city water. I'd scream if I had to pay for everything I've been using.

Cheepchicks, when I lost my favorite big fish during a killer heat wave one year, it was from the lowered oxygen levels in the warmer water and I had to add aeration to the pond, to get the other fish through it. I don't know if you could do that or if it would help you, but it helped us.

It is so bad for so many of you right now. I hope you all get relief, soon.

Don't worry! We had 3 yrs of drought until this year, it's been one of the wettest in recorded history. Everything has it's own time! A time for drought and a time for rain....
