what's my silkie roo doing?

Don't worry every male silkie roo and polish roo I have do the same to me..... I guess its an affection thing. I just give them a nice gently swift boot till they back down then pick them up and carry them. They seem to not do it to me as much since I have done this.

He is doing his job. All roos find a spot where they encourage the hens to make a nest and lay. They will make lovely little noises to call the hens over, and he will sit down and start moving his head all kinds of ways and the hens will look at him like he is an idiot. One of them when she is ready will choose to lay in that spot. It is pure comedy in itself to listen and watch them!

Wow, great to hear I don't have a gay roo. My BLR roo has been doing the same thing, not with me though but the hens. I had never seen it before and wondered what the heck he was doing. I would hear a clucking in the bushes with some hens all around and I'll look in there thinking a hen was laying an egg but it was the roo! He looked like he was making a nest. He is such a big macho roo I couldn't believe it. But now I know. Thanks so much

LOL, Yea they act macho and look macho but really deep down they are just softys. that so cute.
I saw my cochin bantam do that the other day and he also stays with her too while she lays that egg, i am surprised he dont attack us when we go to grab the egg, he is only a 3 pound bird maybe not even but he acts looks like he is being a 50 pound watch dog.
