Just found out I was correct...
Called Yokohama from the port of origin. Developed in Germany in the 19th century from the Japanese long-tailed breed called the Minohiki

It really depends on what book you get your information out of " How to Raise Chickens ". About half of my books say Germany and the other half say Japan. For me I believe the Yokohama was bred to the Yokohama standard breed of today from German poultry breeders over a hundred years ago.
