I was wondering if the is a good all purpose mix for chickens and turkeys. The kids keep getting feed mixed up and would like to cut back on so many diff feeds. Thanks in advance.

There is "all flock" by Nutrena - and most other feed lines have a similar blended feed that may go by a similar name as well. If you have a trusted feed store/supplier, I would consult with them as to the options within the lines they carry.

Also, if you do a label comparison on the feeds you are currently using you may find there is little (or even no in many cases) difference between the feeds that are being bought/sold/used for the different types of bird - label reading is really an eye-opener when it comes to things like this.

Excellent point.

The 2 primary things to pay attention to on the guaranteed analysis list are protein and calcium.
For grown birds, about 16% protein is appropriate, for growing and molting birds, something higher, (18-24%).
If not all of your birds are actively laying, you want about 1% calcium.
If every one of your flock is laying, strive for 4%.
For mixed flocks, it's better to go for 1% and provide plenty of oyster shell in a separate container and don't miss a day.
If your feed is too high in protein you can cut it with corn or another low protein grain.
If you need protein for some birds, you can add in some fishmeal or meat/fish scraps, dependent on how many birds you have.

The main diff i noticed in the game and chicken feeds is protein and fiber is the a mix of oats alfalfa weat things like that? Im new to raising poultry ive mostly raised hogs n cattle i know a ladie that just feeds her chickens pig feed and alfalfa idk just want simple n whats best for my birds

I went simple too.
In the past I've stored and fed, 17% breeder, 20% layer, 15% finisher, 18% grower, 20,22, 24 and 27% starter.
I found an organic grower that's 16% and affordable. That is the base for everyone. To up protein for young birds I add fishmeal (60% protein) and have oyster shell available in all buildings/pens.
