What's the best for managing mites and lice

It was the Red Lake Earth brand, I am not sure the reason for the recall, I would need to look it up. So our feed stores are in search of a new suplier

Here is an article with a short explanation for the recall. I imagine this is primarily a problem if used internally which I only ever used it for a dust bath option for my poultry but still I can't get it anymore and it's probably best to be safe than sorry anyway.

yes they have lice and I am taking care of chickens that were brought here from a wildfire evacuation that had terrible scaly mites, they are recovery but are not quite better yet and with the dirt floor of the coop I would need to buy an awful lot of powder to cover the area at $25+tax/bottle it just doesn't seem feasible

It's only about $6 a bottle and does not take much (half a bottle does both my coops + roosts + all the crevices and horizontal surfaces inside the coop so ~3000 sq ft of cov) but like aart says you need to be treating the birds rather than the coop for what you are dealing with.

Was the DE actually working? I have found it to be useless.

I found it useless and it killed one of my birds...
