Whats the best time to catch a snake?

Well i went out at 915 last night and found another rat snake. It took off twards the woods and i was right behind it running and shooting. Glad my .22 hold 18 bullets because i used 15 of them before i killed it lol

Bad news is... even after ive killed this one, i still had 3 eggs missing this morning #@^%$#$#&^%$#^%$#&

I sprayfoamed everything in my coop that had light coming thru------and caulking works too--I told the kids I carry caulk around like Fonzy carried his comb!!!!

So what size wire are you using to keep snakes out?

Next, poke a hole in several eggs and stuff them with moth balls, reseal and let the snake eat the egg. Leave the eggs outside the coop in a make shift nest.

I don't know --I am with another poster on another thread that said "are you raising chickens or raising snakes?" "ya can't raise both" I haven't seen a snake at my coop yet and it has been several months(I am sure I will find one tommorrow now-LOL) I had a rat problem and I dealt with it.......I don't want any of them......I do everything I can to keep my girls safe--just like my kids---I read all these stories on here with people losing their chickens to predators and it's awful----don't get me wrong --they are still chickens-but they are a responsibility I take seriously. So,until these nasty egg eating -biddy swallowing ,slithering serpents are put on the endangered list and they are in my space they get reckoned with. Go gettem!!!
