What's the Best Treatment for Poultry Lice??

My only roo, Cake, has poultry lice. He has been acting very weird. he has trouble walking, and I think something far worse that just the lice.He trys to crow, and it sounds so terrible. I know he's trying, but it just sounds so sad. He was also turning in circles. I thought he had a couple strokes.....

I separated him from the other birds a few weeks ago. Then, he didnt have lice. (i don't believe.) I checked the turkeys a bit, and i didnt see any. but, ill check again today. The turkeys are fine, its just Cake im worried about. I read that Sevin 5% is a good way to treat it, but i just want your opinions.

Also, should i wear like latex gloves while handling him, to prevent it from spreading?

Do you have a recent picture? Do you know for sure that he has lice? Did you check him thoroughly?
About the crowing, you should probably check for gape worm, etc. I don't think that would be caused by lice alone.

Yeah, i saw lice crawling all over the poor little guy. And, i saw tons of nits.

i think the crowing was from the stroke.

Well, we dont have the Sevin 5% yet. I just started reading up on this. I know it was a stroke, it has all the right symptoms.

Ah. Well, instead of using Sevin, you could alternatively bathe Cake in a mix of warm water and ACV. That always works for me!
(But, if you do bathe him, you need to pick most of the lice eggs off of his butt.)

If he has lice, he's probably anemic, and your whole flock has lice too Treat all or them with permethrin dust (approved for use in chickens), carbaryl dust, or Ivermectin. Clean out the coop and powder it with permethrin, then rebed it. And treat everyone again in ten days, and maybe a third time. Parasites will kill birds, and they just have to be watched for and treated, hopefully before things get out of hand. Mary

I didnt see any by his butt, but all over his body.

I checked the turkeys, and they didnt have any
