What's the deal? Where's my eggs?

dang i don't recall getting a notification that I had all these replies here.
So I didn't let them out for over 24 hours and still only a single white egg(only have one leghorn laying), no brown eggs. I was getting 3 brown eggs a day for several weeks.

I'm wondering if i can test the theory of egg eating by putting one of the brown eggs I have in the fridge back in the nest box. They shouldn't do any thing to it... right? but if it disappears...

This weekend i'll have to keep an eye on them in the morning when they are laying to see whats going on.

If your egg does disappear, it doesn't necessarily mean your chickens are eating it. One winter I had a sudden drastic drop in laying, and increase in feed. Couldn't figure it out until spring when I cleaned out the coop. The floor was full of holes, and under the coop was crawling with rats! Even if they're not living under your coop, they could still be helping themselves to your eggs.

I will have to send them from my desktop tomorrow. Every pic I had on here is now just buried in old threads. I need to take the time to create my albums lol.

I would also love to see your setup! I have quite a few chickens in town, but I live in a very very tiny town. I can't imagine having that many in a city.

OMG my husband would have a heart attack! he hates rats!!

just an update... it looks like for some unknown reason they just stopped laying... i notice when I was watching them that they did not even visit the nesting boxes.
Just a couple days ago i started getting 1 brown egg and now i'm getting 2 brown eggs a day again. So 2 out of 3 have started laying again.
