What's the difference between...

The standard Coturnix, aka pharaohs (which is apparently a way to distinguish them by size), are the prettier ones, they have the wild-type coloring and I love them dearly.

Do not believe in any coturnix more than 16oz. They do not exist.

Jumbos will recess back to not that much of a "jumbo" if not bred selectively.

Generally jumbos should be larger than "regular" coturnix, but be carefull and only buy from reputable and trustworthy breeder.

I bought my jumbo browns and A&M whites eggs from Cumberland hatchery and I am fairly satisfied as for they size and vigor. By buying from a large hatchery which must keep thousands of breeders, has an adventage that you are getting large gene pool, so you can selectively breed them for a while trying to increase their size, without inbreeding.

That's what I am trying to do now.

Now Alex, you know it's how most distinguish them, let's not play dumb

Jumbo browns have the same color pattern as regular (pharaoh) browns. Any color can come in either size. As for the specifics that you asked for (and I have yet to see), Pharaohs (aka normal browns or 'wilds') are anywhere from 6-8 ounces live-weight; anything over 10 ounces (up to 16 at most) is considered jumbo.
