what's the difference?

I have some chicks.

RIR's and Silky and Bl orp.

They were all born in the same week a few days apart. Same hatch.

So I noticed that the RIR 's do not have their tail feathers coming in but the Orp and the silikes do. Is this a breed thing? Or is this a sex thing with RIR's. They are still to young to xes but I understand the silky's will be to hard forever or until he crows.

I had other RIR in this hatch but gave five away. I just wondered why they have no tail feathers showing yet. Not even a stub or bump.
Born week 22-25. They started early. Went all week. 23 eggs.

it could be a sign that they are roos but really give it some time and you will soon know. RIR seem to be easy to sex with just a visual inspection.

I just wondered if they mature slower than other breeds. These are my first RIR chicks. Not hatchery either.

It is a genetics thing.
