What's the Quietest Type of Rooster?....if there is one

My japanese bantam roo is very quiet. He only crows once in the moring and doesn't say another word untail the next morning. He also as a really pretty, long tail.

I had a Black Jersey Giant roo whose crow was very deep (think Giant) soft, and mellow. My neighbors never heard him.

I have a pumpkin hulsey about 6 months old and he crows so loud it's embarassing. I also have a barnyard americauna whose like Mike Tyson, quite a good size, hangs out with the girls and has a voice like a peep. I tend to think it's a personality thing. The hulsey pair are new and I'm trying to work with them like I did with my original group so we'll see. The routine that's been working so far is to have the birds look forward to treats like yogurt, baked potato, lettuce, tomatoe, fruit, etc when I come to check on them as well as stuff to scratch about in and take dust baths and lay in the sun. But the hulseys which are of the game bird category seem to have a different agenda altogether. Good luck!

We have a leghorn, polish, silkie, EE, & a RIR roo's. Our quietest one is our silkie roo. He very seldom crows, but he does watch over the girls really well!

My polish crested rooster is pretty quiet. He can't see very well, so really only crows when he wants something or hears me around...or when the ladies are out...but he doesn't seem too loud. Im not in the city tho.

Wow ok so I guess I'll have to get many chicks and hope the roos are quiet if there's no way to tell...

Oh and by the way, nice long tail pic! Anyone got any more long tail pictures to show off?

I can't tell you who is the loudest or quietest but the 2 bantam roos I had started crowing at 5 weeks, and as youngsters they would crow and crow and crow, 1st thing in the morning, I think you should take the frequency into consideration as well as the loudness, I have 6 chicks at the moment and will get rid of the roos in order of crow, when I see that people can't tell whether they have a rooster at 6 months it makes me laugh.

Good point about the frequency. We had a SLW roo who crowed all day long. In the morning, when anyone came near the coop, after letting them into the yard, when they were in the yard, before they went back to the coop, while they were locked up for the night, in the middle of the night if he heard ANY sound...

Yes, he went to freezer camp for other reasons but he never shut up.
