In Wyoming just across the border from Colorado is Damfino Creek. When they were mapping the area, the mappers asked a local what the creek was called. He told them. The I is pronounced as a long I.

I think my favorite is in North Georgia. It is called Rising Fawn. I just like that name.

Then just down the road from me in Arkansas is Hogeye. In spite of this being the home of the Arkansas Razorbacks where they often call the Hogs, Hogeye is supposed to have a Biblical origin, derived from Hagar.
 
Cumming, Georgia is not too far from Climax, Georgia.
 
Other people might not find this as weird a name as I do, but I used to live in Beaverton, OR.
