Whats the weirdest thing your chickens have eaten or tried to eat??

my RIR at about 2 weeks of age, flew over and grabbed the lit ember from the end of my friends cigarette. she squaked loudly, flew away and won't come near smokers to this day. smart girl, learns from her mistakes! her beak had a smudge but wasn't burned
hahaha! I love that!!!!!!!

My chickens have also eaten a chipmunk, I guess the chipmunk thought it was safe to steal some cracked corn from the chickens!!!! I am not going to lie, it was pretty cool to see the chickens in predator mode!!

Well my chicken Apricot ate three screws. I just did a crop surgery, I conned my neighbors into helping me, bless their hearts. Of course I didnt know there were three screws until I opened her up. Good greif, Ive had enough chicken drama this year to last me for the rest of my life. I posted the incident in the emergency section. Hope my litte Apricot will heal up ok. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/714238/removed-three-screws-from-crop-yikes#post_9751236

Wow I forgot to post back on this thread that the screw Annie (my Avatar) ate did kill her. I had a necropsy done. Thats why I didnt hesitate to remove the screws this time. I didnt even know a chicken had a crop until just recently. I lost 7 baby chicks to IB and in the process I did a TON of reserch on chickens and learned quite a bit. I guess it came in handy. I just have to pray now that Apricot will heal up ok. Shes a buff wyandotte, the same color as Annie was, she was an orpington. I miss her!

Oh NO! So sorry to hear this.
It is (not so) funny hearing all the trouble these little monsters can get themselves into.
Hugs, and good luck for Apricot healing up well.

Ceases to amaze me when I clean their house out and put their muck in our compost area - how they all run over and stampede the area and start eating their own toilet

Each to their own me thinks lol!!

My silkie ate the diamond out of my mom's wedding ring! Our Isa Brown has ate a small trim nail and my daughter's earring, which she plucked right out of her ear. Both of these things occured several months ago and they seem okay.

I wonder... if the diamond stayed put, like grit... she could grind up anything!
