Whats the weirdest thing your chickens have eaten or tried to eat??

I had to chase down my 4 month old rooster Apricot who was running around with a dead bird. I hope my neighbors are enjoying chicken tv. Here I am chasing my rooster, my other 4 chickens are chasing me, and my dog is chasing all of us.

Mine catch mice and eat them... and any dead birds. My sister came to see the chickens and she bent down a little and one of the hens jumped up and pulled out and ate her stud earing...

I actually have a particular chicken that always goes for my earrings if I bend down low enough. She'll run over and jump at me. She's managed to pull one out on multiple occasions, and once she swallowed it. I was really worried, but nothing happened. She was fine.

We just had a hard freeze here, and unfortunately there were some old rusty paint cans under our deck that exploded, oozing paint out onto the ground. (The cans were left here by the previous owner - I had assumed they were empty!) I learned of the exploding cans after seeing a puddle of weird stuff on the grass that looked like vomit, but smelled like paint...one or more of our chickens had eaten the latex paint and then barfed it up. There was quite a bit, too.

I just noticed one of our RIR has white paint all over her feet, so I guess it was her. I hope she'll be okay. That was yesterday and so far she seems fine. I'll have to go out later and find a way to scrub the paint off her feet.

dog fur i have 2 chickens who thinks my 3 dogs are a treat despenser of fur it makes me worry but they have been doing it for so long i guess there ok and the cat too but she dont stick around long when they start plucking her fur :)

I haven't had chickens long enough to have them eat anything as weird as some of the posts here, but one of the NJs decided to help himself to fish food that he had found when he escaped from jail (the brooder).  He simply pecked ...and pecked...and pecked at the box until he punctured a hole in it, and then had himself a meal.   He pooped funky for a day but that was all the effect it had.
Some people give fish pellets to their chickens as a supplement. He'll be fine.

Uh oh. I just noticed that the spray foam insulation that my dh had put in the bricks around the chicken barn door, is pecked off from about one foot down to the ground. It has a similar texture to styrofoam, I should have known this would happen. I wonder if it was the same stupid hen that ate the latex paint. If so, that would explain why she hasn't laid any eggs lately. How can you make eggs from paint and styrofoam?
