Whats the weirdest thing your chickens have eaten or tried to eat??

I suppose this has already been mentioned but my chickens love styrofoam. :D I live on an old building site so there is all sorts of little junk in the dirt. I have seen them eat little metal doo hickeys and small pieces of glass that I failed to pick up.

my chickens have eaten grubs(very graphic), paper, paper off our rake, their own poo(when they were young), and a salamander

PUSHPIN!!! we just had a load of top soil delivered to my house yesterday... of course the girls went running! One of them found a pushpin and ate it before I could grab her. What do I expect from here? I gave them scrambled eggs with olive oil in it for a treat (hoping that it would make for an easy digest) . They are like two year old's ;(

Feeder hangs by a chain with a metal S hook on the end.

I unhooked the feeder carefully in order not to dislodge the S hook from the chain.

Carried the feeder to the house, refill and back to the run. No S hook!

Floor of run is all sand, looked all over and no S hook. One of the 5 month old BOs ate it?

I've been watching the coop from the web cam. For the last half hour a hen is busy picking and eating the plastic wrapper from the bale of wood shavings.

Mine catch mice and eat them... and any dead birds. My sister came to see the chickens and she bent down a little and one of the hens jumped up and pulled out and ate her stud earing...

I was collecting eggs and dropped one today. It hit the ground and all the chickens come running over. Literally before I could pick the egg up one runs off with the shell and the others have the egg GONE! It just felt SO wrong.

Today my six chickens ate about 1/3 of an old white plastic hanging plastic pot that was under my porch. It was very old and quite brittle. Hopefully they will pass it all through.....

I haven't had chickens long enough to have them eat anything as weird as some of the posts here, but one of the NJs decided to help himself to fish food that he had found when he escaped from jail (the brooder). He simply pecked ...and pecked...and pecked at the box until he punctured a hole in it, and then had himself a meal. He pooped funky for a day but that was all the effect it had.
