What's this head bobbing?

Oh, why do you think he's panting then? My ducks pant when they are hot or very stressed. One time when my duck had an egg stuck in her she was panting, but another time when she broke her leg she was not - so I'm confused if they pant when in pain or not. There could be more reasons ducks pant that I'm not aware of.

My ducks are shockingly sensitive about heat. If it is above 75 they'll be foraging in the shade. If it's above 85 Nettle will be panting - she's especially sensitive and also the one who gets stressed and pants during vet visits. :( My ducks seem to be a special kind of pansy duck. My doing I'm sure.
Wow! That is confusing. And wow, ouch! She had an egg stuck inside! Does that happen a lot? Oh boy, they would not like the temps here!

These guys are used to heat, but maybe this one runs hot more than the others. Or maybe it's not actually that he's panting. But he breathes with his mouth open when it starts, and I can see him swallowing like he's trying to get any little moisture that he can. In fact I was just looking at him on the duck cam again. One of the others was doing it a little, not as bad. They seem to be a bit less stressed in the new coop tonight. But it could be that. I'm confused about what it means too. But I just took some water out for them to drink a little. I feel bad for the little guy.

Maybe he's a pansy duck too!😂

Unfortunately getting, "egg bound," is one of the more common reproductive issues. Thankfully you won't have to worry about it!

I hope your pansy duck is adjusting and feeling better. <3

Yikes!😳 Nope no egg issues from the boys club.

I think he's a little better. Thanks. But I think I'm going to try and get some more information about breathing issues. It's confusing and hard to figure out what's acceptable and what's not.
