What's this on her keel bone - and what should I do about it?

Hi,

Ursule has a strange... Wound... Blister... Abcess? On her chest/keel bone. The skin looks strange and flaky as well as too shiny and thin, there's no feathers, there are some yellow scabs, and there is an oval slightly elevated area that makes it seem like there might be pus or liquid under the skin. At the moment I'm just spraying with disinfectant and keeping an eye on it. She was on antibiotics a few weeks ago for another issue. She's also moulting, in case that matters.

I know they can hurt themselves in this area from jumping, but their perch is only about 50 cm above the floor and she's not particularly heavy. That's my best guess though.

She does have a deslorelin implant and I'm only just realising it might be related now that I'm writing... But I thought it was placed more to the side. Anyways, that's definitely worth following up on.

Any other ideas what could be going on, or advice for me in supporting her? It doesn't seem particularly painful and the bone seems okay below.

Breast blisters or keel abscesses can occur basically like a pressure sore on people. She may be lying down a lot on bedding that is wet or soiled, or she might have a rough roost. If she is lying around a lot due to not feeling well, that may be the case. You can apply povidone iodine/Betadine daily or chlorhexidene. Drain if an abscess occurs. Make sure roosts are smooth and bedding is dry and not scratchy.

Thanks! Their bedding is not wet and the roosts are smooth but they spend most of their time outside where it can be wet, and she has had some health challenges and a rough moult so she's been lying more than usual. I'll keep an eye on it and keep spraying with disinfectant
