What's this white stuff?

This past weekend I built this over my raised garden so they have an extra area out of the snow and wind. Put a bunch of grass and mulch in there for them to play in. Tomorrow when it's a little warmer I am putting up a swing in their main run.

Here's my insulation job a few weeks ago.

Miss Etta on the roost in the coop.
Looks like a pretty nice setup. How many do you have?

You might be surprised. I have gotten caught in lake effect bands in Morgantown before. Its all about the direct path of the wind and then can be very narrow. Fingers crossed you avoid the big dumps. :fl
One year (maybe it was 2016 like your pics) Morgantown got 25” of snow, but Washington only got a couple inches. It was crazy!

We had 6 all different breeds but our Silkie turned out to be a roo so we had to find him a new home with a friend on a farm. Here are the original 6 that are 6 months old.

We promised my son if we had to give up the Silkie do to being a rooster we'd get him a new girl. So we got 2 babies who are now 12 weeks old.

Very beautiful flock. 7 is a good number. They should have plenty of space.

I rented a trencher this summer and put in conduit to run electric. I was getting ready to have it hooked up but my guy had a stroke so its a no go till spring. So I ran a 100ft heavy duty extension cord out to the coop and plugged in a water heating pan. Sad to say I an excited to see if it works tomorrow morning.

My family wanted me to run power to the coop. I just run an extension cord out to keep the water thawed as well. That is some beautiful coop you have there. Very well built. They must love it.
