What's up with my chicken's butts?!?

Live culture plain yogurt both orally and on the bare butt should help; not that different from Nystatin. Wonder if some of that OTC yeast stuff for women would be safe or would help?

Is there any way I can get this from them. I have been reluctant to bathe them because I am a breastfeeding mom of a 5 month old. I really can't afford to get thrush or any kind of yeast infection. Husband is talking about culling them.

Jenski - I got your message and have appreciated your help and support. I have sent a message to one of the people you have recomended and will see what the response is. Haven't found a way to get Nystantin.

Feeling kind of emotionally overwhelmed right now. New chicks yesterday, sick and dead chickens, and normal stuff to take care of. We're three weeks into this chicken thing and as much as I have enjoyed them...I just can't figure out what is going wrong. They seemed healthy when we got them. Hanging in there.

I don't think you can contract this because if it is a yeast infection, yeast is of different strains in different species, I believe. Also, just wash your hands well. Get the chicken washed, and give her some yogurt. You can get monistat at the store. Put that her butt. I would keep her separated if posssible, off the ground. Maybe in a cage to watch her.
To keep the gunkiness down, I would pull out the feathers that are getting dirty.

I know how busy you are. I stay home with three kids and a housefull of animals. Take one task at a time.
