whats up with the alarm clock!

What causes/why must a chick start an alarm peep at 2 am, (or 3 a.m. or 4 a.m.) just long enough for me to get up in a panic and check on them- only for them to look up at me as if to say, "Hi, Just checking to see if you were paying attention...Do you mind? We are sleeping"

One of mine does this every night. Not always the same chick, Im sure- but who knows. Maybe they have bad dreams...(ugh, I cant get out of this egg!)

However, they manage to scare me every single night (and I have told them about the Little Boy Who Cried Wolf)...

It is true but funny. Mine did it to me every night for four weeks...I swear it was like having a newborn wanting food and a dry diaper.

Must be a chick thing. Mine will wake me up every morning around 3 am. They eventually get back to sleep until around 530 ish when I get up.
