whats wrong with my bird?

for the second time in a month one of my girls ( I hope its the same one ) has laid a developing baby with no shell - does anyone else have this happen or know why it would?
am going to have to find out for sure but I think its one of my new ones that is just laying but how long would it have to be in her to be developing when she lays it?

Are you saying that your pullet has laid a couple of shell less eggs? Eggs with just the membrane around them? They are pretty common when pullets start to lay, they are usually just working out the kinks in their egg laying system and it will straighten out in a month or so.

no i have had some of those from another chicken before these are the color of silly putty and you can see the veins that are forming and they have a meaty texture to them - there is no membrane or shell on them -

That is odd. Next time it happens, could you post a photo? Its difficult to imagine exactly what you're talking about and properly diagnose the problem without seeing the actual thing.
