What's wrong with my chicken?

No improvement this morning... poo looks completely white now. Droopy tail and she's hanging her head and closing her eyes. The other girls are doing fabulous... I can't see a change in them. Eating, talking, pecking, scratching, following me around. They were in a hen house at my grandpa's... now that we moved them here, we've been letting them free range. Not sure where to go from here. Poor girl.

Sorry your chicken is continuing to not do well. Personally, and only going on what you've written, i would not suspect her being egg-bound. i could be wrong. i would not think it was the torn nail, unless it was badly infected and you would be able to tell by looking. The lack of poo and the green poo suggests she isn't eating and/or processing food. If no other chickens are showing signs of illness, then you should be able to rule out any transmittable disease or that they all got into bad or moldy food.

Honestly, it sounds like she may have some sort of internal issue, like a cancer or liver failure. If that is the case, all you can do is keep her comfortable and calm until she passes. i wouldn't use the poultry powder on her at this point, especially if you don't see mites or lice. It is a poison and could push her over the edge.

Wish i could help more. It sounds like you are doing all you can. Keeping her isolated, warm, and safe is good. The electrolytes in the water is good. Trying to get her to eat and drink a bit is good. Until and unless you see any other symptoms, i can't think of anything else to suggest.

So sorry. i know this is hard.

Got home this evening and saw that she has made HUGE improvements! She was standing up in the kennel, her piece of watermelon gone and water drank (but maybe it spilled), ready to get out. When my hubby opened the door she shot out and joined the other girls... tail is still droopy, but I didn't really notice her limping at all. She went into the coop after awhile (and before the others came in), and was trying to fly up onto the roost, but couldn't make it. I don't know if she is just too weak, or if a wing is broken, or if there is still something internally wrong. We isolated her again tonight, just too see if she's eating/drinking. Hopefully tomorrow she'll be even better.
