whats wrong with my duck?

Tums has calcium - half of one, dissolved in a tiny bit of water mixed in with mashed peas - but you say she is not eating?

Please PM casportpony now. My internet connection is flaky. Please search the archive for "team tube feeding" to find detailed information on getting food into her. That matters alot.

You can buy calcium citrate pills at the drugstore (call ahead to be sure). I get the 250 mg ones. Dissolve that in a little hot water Half of the water will contain 125 mg of calcium - add that to the softened food you will give her.

If she has an infection you will need to either get injectable antibiotics at a feed store that carries it (call around), or oral that you put into food or water that you then tube feed her.

You need instructions on how to do this so you don't put food or water in her lungs.

alright, thanks!
here is a picture of her on monday, she had gotten alot worse,

@casportpony my first impression was wry tail. What do you think, after seeing the photo?

Can it develop at this stage? It could also be the result of infection . . . I suspect it's more than one thing.

@applebutter14 thanks for the photo.

she has started to eat now, but she cant stand at all, to move she uses her bill ans her wings.

i noticed today that her bill has like two bumps in it, does any body know what it is from?

I think she may have an infection in her mouth - there could even be a sharp object stuck in the top of her bill. She needs help.

It would be best to look into her bill. @casportpony can you coach someone on opening a bill and looking around?

Ducks can get things stuck in their mouths don't be scared just take a look to make sure nothing is in there. there maybe an injury to the inside too this way you'll know if your dealing with one or the other. When I have to look into my ducks or gooses mouth I get someone[dh] to hold the bird wrapped in a towel to keep from getting scratched and keeps the wings out of my way then I gently pry open the mouth and look around .

@Amiga Applebutter says she has been using her bill and wings to get around she may have injured her bill doing this??

@casportpony take a look at her bill too.

I don't know much about wry tail and have only ever seen it once in one of mine. He got around *okay*, but in the end I sold him as a meat duck. In his case he started off with just a slight bend to his tail and it got progressively worse as her grew. He also held his neck funny...
