I have an older silkie chicken that has a growth under the left side of her beak that seemed to appear all of the sudden. It is firm and warm and does not seem to have any opening so it must be growing from the inside. It does not seem to bother her, she eats and acts fine. Feathers have started growing out of it on the back half. Does anybody have any idea what this is and is there anything that can be done about it? She is a sweet chicken and I would like to help her if I could. Thanks

Is it her wattle? I don't know what it could be, but I want to tell you that I have a silkie roo that looks much like yours, and he had a large swollen area on his backside that looked totally lethal, but I checked today and it's gone.

Could it be a bee sting?

Looks like where the wattle should be... but to me looks like it is a swollen wattle. Sting of some sort? Injury? Hopefully it's not filled with anything. best of luck.
