What's wrong with their feathers?

Where did you get the eggs from? Who sold you the "Ameraucana/EE"s? Were all the eggs laid by the birds you hatched blue? Sometimes unscrupulous sellers can pass off EE's as Pure Ameras by only selling the blueish eggs and keeping the off colors for themselves. (if that makes sense)

In Julie's case, we've gone back through years and years of breeders/sellers, and none had any Silkies in their flocks.

They came from a seller on ebay not sure of his name. As far as I can remember the eggs were blue (differant shades of blue). It has been almost a year since we got them. But I know there were no pink or green eggs.

1 - Is it possible to look up the seller's name in your ebay / paypal records?

2 - You hatched from blue eggs (diff shades). What color eggs do your hatched birds lay?

Their legs are pretty yellow/green..... I'm gonna say that they are EEs and not true Ameraucanas..... which is not uncommon as even the hatcheries sell EEs as Ameraucanas and even Araucanas. ::sigh:: So many people, unless they've done extensive research on the breeds, assume that what they paid for is what they got.

But hey! Silkie feathered blue/green eggers..... who cares what they have in them! Too pretty for words! Enjoy them!

Jacobsoffroads sells "Americana Easter Eggers" and his auctions for them all list "Green eggs" instead of blue.

So, what you already know is correct - he does not sell pure blue laying Ameraucanas.

He does have Frizzles listed, I don't see any Silkies. I sent him a message asking if he carries them. If he does - then there is your most likely answer as to why they are coming out silkied.

If he doesn't - then it comes down to where he got his stock from. Since he can't spell Ameraucana, and lists them as green laying easter eggers, I'm guessing it's going to be pretty impossible to figure out where the h gene got mixed in.

So - to paraphrase Guitartists: Enjoy them! They are adorable and that's all that really matters, not what made them!

Ya thats what I figured anyway I do know when we bought our eggs they were labled "ameraucana" not american ee or we would not have gotten them. What ever I will be excited to see what I can produce out of these chickens!!!!
