My son got this chicken given to him and the comb looks awful what can i do to fix the comb. It is very hard and the inside of the comb looks like....... well best way to describe it is it looks like crushed peanut shells. Here is a pic. Any help would be great.

Looks like a bad case of fowl pox. Actually, it looks a lot worse than the pictures I have seen of fowl pox, so I don't know if that's what it is, but it's a possibility. If that's what it is, it is contagious, but not usually fatal.

Hopefully, some others will chime in and tell you for sure what it is.

The hen in there with him has been with him for a long time and she show no kind of problems with her comb or feet. Ill do some google research on fowl pox and see what i can find.

Just an update if anyone is interested. We had a vet at the house checking on our cows and i asked him about the Roo. He looked at it and said it looks like he had gotten his comb cut and infection set in. And it had just not been treated right and caused the tissue to die. He said to either dub him or leave it if i wasn't worried about the looks but wasn't nothing really to do about it now it wasn't going to grow back (which i knew that much). I knew he was not show quality because of the comb so i will raise out of him and see what i get. Thanks for those who gave me some input on it.
