One of my hens layed a weird egg. Its really miss shaped and one end is softer than the rest. It seem really rough too!

Did they just start laying? It's not unusual for things like this to happen occasionally, particularly with new layers.

If you start seeing problem eggs consistently, you can research the known causes.

Its possible that there is one that just started, but Im really not sure! There 2 pullets that looked like they were developing late, one still dint have a full comb. The other has caught up and it couldve been hers. I haven't seen one like that before today

Could be an early layer or may not be getting enough nutrients. I have had the occasional soft shelled egg, and a few oddly formed ones. When I see a soft one I add some oyster shell in the coop. They will eat it as the need it. Can't hurt.

if it continues, you may want to try and determine which hen it is and separate her and see if it continues. This way you can see if any diet changes etc make a difference.

Hi my hen Grumpy is 4 years old and is laying eggs with the round patch just like yours but they are edible she has layer pellets -corn - and grit is always at the ready- table scraps every day and i have wondered why they are like this i think she is coming to the end of her productive span. my other 3 hens did this and over winter they died one by one i did all i could to save them but was told 4 years is a good age for a hen.reading about hens that maybe they are young etc I did not have any problems when they were first young. I have 4 new hens now and they are not laying yet but my old hen will not except them it has been a month now and the attacks are vicious. when i leave her with them she will round them up and i will find them cramped in corners etc and have to rescue them i have put her on her own for some of the day but when i put her back with them she goes on the attack she will not feed with them she will drive them away.and will not sleep with them, it should be the other way around 4 against 1 but they are quite timed and small compared to Grumpy. I have read quite a lot of stuff about bullying but nothing i try will work I sprayed them with anti peck but she will still peck them hard. Regards Belinger
