What's wrong with this goose??

People put out bait to catch snapping turtle. They are awful predators to water fowl. Hope the gosling makes it waterfowl have a body temperature around 107 they can fight off infection pretty well worst that can happen is fly strike.

Oh wow I did not know they're body temperature is that warm! Do u know why it's like that? And what does fly strike mean? Because I noticed today he was left behind at the lake all by himself and is now sleeping there as I send this reply. So I was kind of curious as to why he was left back. And a couple days ago he was capable of flying. And I also seen another goose by his side with him earlier too..

Fly strike is when flies lay their eggs inside an open wound and then maggots get into the wound it is really nasty after that and if not cared for the bird or animal will die. They literally eat the animal.

He may have infection in that too it looked pretty bad. Any way you can get close enough to get a good look and picture? have you ever looked to see if you have a water fowl rescue in your area?

At their own ponds, I think... not sure it's legal in public places.

Ah, I remember making sure to avoid the turtles when we saw them at the river... when I lived in central CA... don't know if they were the same... but we knew they bite!

I'm not sure if they OP is in Canada... or just a Canadian geese lover. :p Putting it in the profile can help answer questions without having to be asked. ;)

I live in south jersey, and just love canada geese!

Yes, wawa is a convenient store, you don't have them where u live? Wawa''s mascot is actually a Canada goose. It'll tell u if u like it up online
No, we have no Wawa convenience stores... We do see Canada Geese seasonally and a few stay around sometimes and raise some young. We have 7 eleven's and a bunch of others though. Don't know about New Jersey laws but turtle soup may be off the menu for you. Too bad, since those adult turtles can live to be 70 years old! If the goose stayed, it is because he didn't feel like going, or maybe they weren't even his flock... Perhaps his original flock left previously. He will stay until he feels up to going I imagine. It is still early in the year so he has time to get to the south yet. They also have a town called Wawa in Pennsylvania.

He has been staying here with the ducks and seems to of gotten close with them. His goose family did not return yet, we're hoping they do soon. I haven't heard him making that squeaking sound that goslings make until yesterday when one of the female ducks made a quacking sound he made a little sound back and then followed the duck into the water. Does this mean something? I'm a little confused by it. I just want his head to get better. :/

How does his head look? and as far as hanging out with the ducks they are flock animals so maybe if they have accepted him he has found a family for now.

most of the geese came back after 5 days of not being there due to the rain (I think) but I don't think any of them were his family. All the geese were going crazy, the one gander kept trying to fight. It was crazy.. they were all noisey. What does that mean?

Time of year they are getting ready to make their move to winter grazing most likely that gets every one agitated.. Or do these geese stay year round there?
