What's wrong with two yolks?

I don’t think that they are bad. It just means that two yolks got released instead of one. Double yolk ussually happen in new layers. Why did this website say their diet was bad if they layed double yolks? Some people think that double yolks are good luck.
There was no explanation. It just said if the hen lays double yolks then something is wrong with the diet. Thank you for your comment.

I got this massive duck egg several years ago. I don’t know how many yolks were in it but as you can see it was a giant. I had some new layers and this is a common occurrence when they are just starting. It doesn’t have anything to do with their diet. Simply, it occurs when two or more yolks are released together and have a shell and all formed around them.

I got a monster double yoker last fall. The egg measured almost 5" in length and I thought for sure it would be a triple. The shell had a definite "two toned" look where each 1/2 was a slightly different color. Almost as if two eggs somehow fused together.
I look forward to every spring when our fall hatchlings come of age and begin laying. Nearly 50% of those 1st eggs are doubles but its short-lived once they get on their regular cycle.

I really can't think of how diet would impact yolk quantity. Hormone levels, perhaps. I would avoid that site in the future. Whether they were right or wrong, omitting the why is a deal breaker for me. Just my two cents. You can mail me the change.
