What's wrong?

Several of my chickens have been swiping both sides of their beak.. saw this for the first time today.. what could be the problem and how do I fix it?

Mine wipe both sides of their beak against the ground after eating to clean off any stuck food, if this is what they are doing there is nothing to worry about

i have had a few silly freak outs myself!!

I am new to this, and have grown very very attached to these birds, they are like my kids.... I have never seen them doing the swiping thing before, was concerned.. didn't want someone to have something and it spread through the flock..
