It has been years that I was active in this community but have a hard time with chosing; one was here and some person harassed me because "I, all the Dutch people, stole all the Muscovy ducks from the Native Americans.".

In real life some lady used their children to steal ducks... I don't even... Indian runner ducks are not worth a lot in this country...0-20 dollars.. but she created a whole fake persona, including phonenumber and rented a fake house to steal these ducks? She could literally have them for free! But mainly omg those poor children..

the third one is some random cop that put me on the national list of being a danger for society due to "stealing ducks". I called them because there was a duck dumped, an Indian runner duck, which is a invasive species here and also just dies and awfull death because of it. Instead of doing anything they put me on a terrorist list (no joke he used this word!") for the great possible terrorist crime of maybe in the future stealing ducks aka rescueing... it still makes me giggle and I wear it as a badge of honour.

I'm not that special so there a probably other great weird stories about how other people treated you because fowl.

I try real hard to not dwell on unpleasantness in life, but focus on uplifting and positive aspects.
Don't let evil monopolize your life or thoughts. You dont harm them, only yourself.
How about a post asking us for funny or amazing stories about our neighbors or friends concerning our flock?
Well I guess I need the talking about the lesser situations of fowl-owning like that to heal. It's unfortunately not all cute chicks and rainbows.

Lol.

Um, let's see--

I was networking with local chicken people and trying to hook up a breeder who I liked chatting with with business. She and I had a trade deal, and it just happened to work out that she got her part of the trade (two pure breed roosters) before I was to get mine (pure bred eggs, or a rooster or hen that needed to be retired that I would cull for meat.) it's possible she was having memory issues because it was multiple times of me reaching out for eggs and she would say we could meet the next day or that week and then trying to reach out the day of she would be MIA. And then the next time we chatted, she would seem like she didn't remember we were already supposed to have met.

Now I warn people away from her and flag her ads because while maybe it's memory issues, it's also just as likely that she took advantage of me, which obviously doesn't feel good. The irony is the roosters were, at most, worth $80 total, and probably less. I would have been happy with $20-40 worth of eggs. But *shrug* hope welching was worth it.

The second is also kind of unfortunate. I was chatting with a local who had some birds I was interested in getting eggs from. The more I dealt with the local, the more I realized it was possibly s hoarder situation, but certainly a situation where the person didn't have money to take care of themselves and a dependent who lived with them.

One thing that made it worse was realizing that they didn't know simple things about poultry care related to nutrition (which okay, tons of stuff we learn along the way.) But worse, they had chickens living in the house and they didn't have hard floors, so there was carpet with a lot of poultry poop on it. I feel kind of icky because I think APS should be called, but on the other hand, it could cause the dependent into a much worse situation so I just feel like I have to shrug it off and say people are doing the best they can. But I have distanced myself from them and don't plan on dealing with them anymore.
