What's Your Chickens names and Why are they named that?

Penguin (australorp) - She had white and black feathers as a chick and we thought she looked like a penguin!

Buttercup (golden laced wyandotte) - Her feathers are brown and black and made me think of a Reese's peanut butter cup (I'm kind of obsessed with peanut butter...).

Chickabod (white leghorn) - My husband came up with this name somehow and it just stuck!

Jobin (Delaware) - We had just watched the movie I Love You Man (hilarious movie) and thought it would be funny to name one of our girls Jobin so we did!

Tubs (speckled sussex) - She was the fattest chick we had! I called her Tubs as a joke but the name stuck!

Aster (dominique) - We thought Aster was our australorp when she was a chick, so I thought Aster was kind of close to the breed name. Turns out, she's our dominique, but I still love Aster.

Cleo (easter egger) - As a chick her eyes were lined in dark black so it looked like she was wearing heavy eyeliner. Reminded me of Cleopatra!

Raven (black star) - She was all black as a chick so we named her Raven. Unfortunately she passed away this March at about 7 months of age. She was such a sweet girl and I miss her so much! RIP Raven!

I have right at 50 chickens. I rarely if ever name mine. I have named some in the past.

Mr. Meaty- My "free Rare exotic" chick from Murray McMurray's . He got to the point to where he always followed me around. I let him out of the pen and he always just come running around in his 13lb yes 13lb body. He lived 9 months and one day I went to let him out and I seen him in him house just flopped over. Well Mr. Meaty evidently had a heart attack. I knew he wasn't going to live long but I he was my chicken buddy. I usually have one that I spend the most time with and it was him. I put him on a diet and around 3 weeks. Give or take. I gave him vegetables every single day. Every once in a while I would give him some oatmeal. But I knew he wasn't going to live long. I guess thats why we was attached. I spent so much time feeding him and taking care of him Oh well. Heres a picture of him at about 4-5 weeks. Give or take some.

Next is momma chicken. Shes a bantam barred cochin and has never had any little ones but she is the oldest so I guess shes a momma.

Then I have another pet rooster. Hes a leghorn ROOSTER. i know awkward but oh well. He follows me like mr. Meaty did but when he runs you don't see 13lbs of chicken breast coming at you haha. His name is "Pet" or sometimes i call him "foghorn".

Ok... I "had" Samantha, GaGa, Tinkerbell, Reggie, And I still have my baby girl Gretta, and also Sarah... The rest don't have names...lol...

Gretta got her name cuz she was the nicest and I kept calling her "henrietta" but then I kept shortening it to Henri (which I didn't like) so then I tried Etta, but Henry still came out, so she became Gretta... Sweet spoiled Gretta! Lol

my birds have to earn their names, either by winning shows or being exceptionaly friendly, sometimes my family will just nickname one and it sticks. I'v got my original pair of OEG's dimmu and borgir, named after a scandinavian metal band, my male golden pheasant is named flametail (i named him when i was like 11), one of my hen oeg's is named princess cause she one best bird in show, etc. with 60'ish birds i can't name them all. Oh and i call my broilers deep fried, extra crispy and almost done...

Started off with 5 tiny fuzzballs as an Easter gift from my df grandparents. Since there are 5 people in the house, everyone got to name one.

Nuggett--- named by me (I thought I was clever but I guess that's a popular name)

Dog--- named by my df (I thought it was "Dawg" but he corrected me)

Poker--- named by my df's mom

Pecker--- named by my df's stepdad

Dexter--- named by my df's stepsister

(Despite the name Nuggett, all of our chickens are beloved pets, nothing against those whose are not)

Adult flock - I was going for a mythical theme, but not all the names stuck.

Thor is my roo.

My hens are:
Lilith-- just like the name.
Bluey-- Rolled in blue coop paint as a youngster.
Brigid-- The mythical thing.
Sunny-- for her sunny color.
Jezebel-- like the name, DH wouldn't let me keep her original name which was his ex wife's name.
Snowy-- for her color.
Chloe-- like the name and it suits her.
Dink--ran out of name ideas
Maggie--accidental bantam, reminds me of a petite elderly friend of mine.
Lil' Bit--my half blind runt
Girlie--cuz she's prissy in her manner
Bella--another prissy hen
Pan--the mythical thing again

Baby flock (supposed to be pullets, but....)
EEs -- Pumpkin and Peaches, sadly Apple passed away
speckled sussex -- Trixie and Dixie, easy to remember
silkies--(red) willow, (blue) DH hasn't named yet
Turkens--(red) Rose, (buff) Pansy, (black) Ivy, (speckled/multicolor) Mandi, named for my DSD cuz she has the sweetest face
Salmon Faverolles--Fern, Violet and Katy, just like the names.
