What's your chickens reaction to snow?

Mine hate it. They won't walk on it, they look at *me* like it's *my* fault there's snow on the ground. Once I opened the coop door and one of my girls LAUNCHED out of it like she usually did when there was grass. I've never seen a bird stop midair and just drop straight down before when her little brain realized the ground was WHITE AND OH DEAR GOD SOMETHING IS WRONG she made a little snow angel from the impact! I wish I still had that picture.

That sounds like a fun thing to witness! My chickens never did it, at least, I’ve never seen them do it.

I have a roof over my run, but depending on the wind direction and speed, some snow will blow in. Nope, not touching that stuff! Forget the nice dust bathing hole they made. Forget coming up to the fence to see what I'm doing. They're staying in.

Now, no snow, but zero degrees? No problem.

My chickens didn't have to go through that here in South Carolina. The closest thing we got to snow was a small ice storm. I locked them up in their coop. When I let them out in the morning they just loved the ice! My sebright tried walking the fence like he usually does and it was caked with ice and he went sliding off the fence flapping and squawking! Lol.

Mine hate it at the beginning of every winter, but they gradually get used to it. I throw food out onto it and they will eventually brave the white lava for the treats. Then they don't mind so much and will eat the snow.

One of my hens decided to be brave and went out, and another followed. I’m glad!

When my flock first saw snow, they ran out into it and then froze. They were all like "WHAT THE HECK IS THIS COLD STUFF?!?!!?" They flew around trying to escape...even my large rouen duck tried to fly! He didnt get far......like 2 inches off the ground was it lol. They can't walk in it since its too weird for them lol

Mine hate the snow is why its so easy to take photos of them...in the snow lol
