what's your dream country and dream house like?

Oh, wow... I don't even know where to start! Ummmmm...

I've been planning my dream ranch with my friend. Our families are going to live together on a huge 80 acre ranch. (I inherited the land from my Grandmother already. It's in Nevada.) There will be one huge house with both families in it. The house will look sort of like this...

There will be a large horse barn where I will breed my arabians...

And multiple chicken coops of a similar design...

And a cute little art studio out back...

AND THERE'S SOOO MUCH MORE!!!

I'm lucky in that I already have my dream home. I use the word 'home' rather than 'house ' for a reason.

In preparing to retire to Thailand, I bought some empty land and contracted with a builder to build a house to our specification. Half of the land was for the house and garden and the other for mucking around with fruit, veg. and poultry.

I use the word 'home' because a house is not a home. A home is the building, the garden and, more importantly, the atmosphere created by those who live there. Show houses look great but where's the family mess that gives it atmosphere? Empty coffee cups, magazines strewn around, shoes kicked off. Outdoors is important to us too because of the climate. I enjoy sitting on one of our verandahs or in one of the gazebos of an evening chatting with my wife and drinking an ice cold beer, listening to the wild animal calls and watching for fireflies and glow worms.

I am already there. I was born in germany but live in the US since4/01. Just like Kristy I want live the appalachian mountains. I will move to SE Kentucky in the late summer/fall. Out in the middle of no where or a hollow. It will have atleast five acres, ideally 20+ though. Id like to see some coal or gas royalties. Can't wait to go "home". Edit to add: We will be moving to the Corbin Ky area . My husband is stationed in Ft Knox but due to his duty in the Army he will be gone more than 50% of the time. Might as well start buying now.

I have a decent home, just needs redoing on the inside and I am doing one room at a time. . .why is it I can't get motivated to DO stuff??? I use to tear rooms apart and have them all back together in the same day, with FIVE kids and their friends and the pets all hanging around . . .wow, of all the things I miss the most . . .got the 12 year olds room done, doing the bath next. I am waiting for two closings, which will put me on top of the game and take care of my winter money worries for feed for the Alpacas . . .Thank you God for those buyers, and will do more supply collecting for the rooms with some of those proceeds. Bathroom is next, and hopefully will have it done in a couple of weeks, then . . . .the dreaded family room. I watch Pinterest like a hawk, and am going to paint my kitchen cabinets this year too. Have to wait for better weather to take things outside to sand and clean. LOVE the pictures and dreams!!!
