Just to add to your confusion..........I ABSOLUTELY HATE MY DYSON. We have replaced it with an LG. But it was probably more $$$ than you want to spend.

My favorite was my Eureka Powerline Gold. I now have a Hoover Windtunnel Plus - it does the job, but I'd love to find something better. I have a great vacuum repair shop nearby - I may take my Powerline back in for an overhaul. But both use bags, and you said you want a bagless.
I've looked at the Oreck - but do they make a model with on-board attachments? Dyson is now advertising some new light-weight models, but I haven't read the reviews on them yet.
