What's your least favorite breed?

I guess I really don't like EEs, but that is the fault of hatcheries. I hate hatcheries who sell EEs with the label of araucana/ameraucana, and americana. People then think their mutt easter egger is an araucana, and that drives me batty! Though I do plan on selling any 'cull' araucanas of mine that I hatch as EEs, so people don't think they have something special. If they aren't up to SOP standards, then I don't want people I sell them to thinking the tailed, tuftless bird will breed rumpless tufted birds. Nope, they will just think they have a mutt easter egger and that is fine by me!

Then you'll be doing what the hatcheries are doing, selling something for what it is not. An Araucana is an Araucana no matter if it meetsSOP or not because if you breed purebereds together thern they recreate what they are.

Wrong, an Easter Egger is classified as any blue egg layer that does not meet breed standards for other breeds. If I have an araucana that doesn't meet breed standards, it won't likely throw offspring who do. Like one that doesn't have tufts. A non tufted bird won't ever throw a tufted chick because tufting is a dominant trait. So, selling culls as EEs is not unethical, since they will still lay blue eggs, the ONLY standards for an EE. If you want to start a topic elsewhere, feel free, because I don't want to derail this thread.

As far as appearances go, I think naked necks are freaky looking, and don't care for the long-legged look of the modern games or the skinniness of other games. I keep fat fluffy bantams, if I had room I'd keep fat fluffy standard size hens. I love fat fluffy birds! As far as personality goes, I don't have a preference, flighty or flirty; I love them all.

My golden lakenvelder is skittish and acts kind of crazy. She is afraid of everyone and cannot be caught. The anconas are pretty, but way too skittish, and at times mean to other chickens. Favorites are my salmon faverolle roo and girls, so sweet, buff brahmas, BR's, and New Hampshires.

Thanks for setting that straight. But I really did buy them because I read they were great meat birds... So if you sell hatching eggs, or live near the AR line, let me know. I will probably want some more next year!

They are excellent meat birds! But the gene pool is dwindling to nothing. To much Minorca infusion. I've got Duane Urch La Fleches I've been messing with for a little while now.
