What's your least favorite breed?

I really don't like chickens with feathered feet, doesn't matter what breed they are. My DH has specifically told me I cannot have feather footed birds so apparently he doesn't care for them either. He says that the feathers on the shanks make the birds less hygienic and more susceptible to disease...I don't know if there is really any truth to that though.

I doubt it's true. I actually have 3 different breeds of feathered footed birds. They are beautiful, but I heard not the best layers. We will see. You'd be surprised how well they keep their feet clean. It's good both you and your dh are on the same page.

. My dh is not a chicken fan at all and could live without them.

I don't care for white Leghorns. I actually have 2, and they are okay, but it's what we had when I was growing up. They just don't bring back very good memories.

I love most all chickens. And yes I have showgirls and one turken. My DH didn't think he would like the showgirls till I got them, now he loves them. The only ones I do not like are Game roos! As a kid I had help take care of game chickens for stepgrandfather and it was not fun.

To this day I did not want a roo but I had to take in a RIR roo and he is so nice and I also have a silkie roo. Over coming it one roo at a time.

From personal aesthetics POV, I do not care for the Showgirl or Turken look, and then I'd say the Silkies/Frizzles/super puffy chicken look.

My silkie hens have always been really sweet and very good mothers. My polishes are a little aggressive sometimes. Brown leghorns are very spry and I prefer a more docile type bird. I had a cucoo maran (Im sure I spelled that wrong) rooster once who was downright mean. And a couple of barred roosters that werent very nice to my children. I dont know what exact breed they were. Also in my experience RIR eggs have blood in them quite often.

Oh, I love love LOVE those! They are flighty and loud, though, that's for sure. They're on the Endangered Species list, so I'm going to be breeding them and working toward preserving the breed.

They're prolific layers and gorgeous birds & I would hate to see them go extinct.

But just because I dislike Silkies, does not mean I am opposed to them. Just don't want them in my yard. Don Jones raised a bunch of nice Silkies years ago. He still advertises in the Poultry Press. His was huge fluffballs. My grandmotherw as shocked at Shawnee one year to see Don with a hairdryer trying to clean poop from one hen. He has washed the birds rear and was drying it just moments before judging started. Don won Grand Champion of Show...with that same hen.
