I would repaint the whole thing black again, then buy stick on white numbers, which are large enough to be seen properly. Have to admit the small numbers you have on the post would be unreadable to me if I was delivering in a van. Maybe he did do the wrong thing in the way he went about it, but he was trying to make a point tht he could not read the original numbers. I would request of UPS that they buy you the tin of spray paint and numbers.

Yes this is UPS that has done this. I got all worked up over seeing this on the side of my mailbox and taking pitures of it it never dawned on me to check the other side of the box. It wasnt until I was coming home today when I noticed it was also on the other side of the box as well.

At first I was just going to let it slide a little and make them pay for the can of spray paint, but seeing that its wrote in huge letters on BOTH sides of my mailbox, I want them to pay for a new mailbox.


This morning I went to drop off something at the post office today to be mailed(since I missed the mailman) and asked if they would ever write on the side of someones mailbox. He gave me this funny look and then told me that they do mark the inside of boxes sometimes. It makes it easier for the mailwoman to see which house shes at. I explained to him what happened with UPS. He told me I did the right thing with reporting it. He said the mailwoman mentioned it to him when she came back from her stops this morning. They thought I had done that. The past week we've had a sub. mail person and the mail was being sent to the wrong houses. So she thought I had threw a fit and then marked my mailbox with the large numbers to make sure they saw which house it was.

I'm glad we have fire markers in our yards here. That is pretty tacky and I'd complain. Nothing but USPS mail is supposed to be inside the box but the box is yours. We have ours marked and then the fire marker that's put out I guess by the township.

Report the driver to the USPS , it is illegal to deface mail boxes. Its also a federal law.

Forget UPS, you can make a police report also.

Our delivery lady wrote the numerical addresses on the fronts of all of our mail boxes with spray paint a few years ago. She said she got tired of trying to guess whose box was whose,,, I complained to the PO, they came out and replaced all of our boxes with the same type we had, then gave us a notice that said we had 48 hours to clearly mark out numerical address on the boxes or it would be done for us.
