Wheaten and Blue wheaten Marans Discussion Thread

it might b a roo but still something looks funny hoow its coloring in should be much darker but i am often wrong

the really nice thing about wheaten marans is that they have sex linked color differences. a cockerel will feather in dark (meaning black/gray) on the thigh and breast. i am pretty sure i already see creamy feathers coming in on your chick's thighs. watch the feathers, the comb and wattles can fool you for sure. hope i am right...keep posting pics.

my thoughts exactly on the combs some of my hens have great big combs some are small
i havent changed my view/guess its a hen . or a badly colored rooster /sport
but il try to post some more pictures of same age chicks

Well I guess it's a toss up... I sent the pics to the breeder and she says rooster. Guess we shall see

Im thinking roo now, too. Too much black starting to come in. Maybe different lines of wheaten blacken in slower than others.
