Wheaten and Blue wheaten Marans Discussion Thread

I subscribed to this thread and another Marans thread and have a question about the neck feathering in the Wheaten hen. I have five pullets right now, two of which I won't be breeding from unless they lay incredibly dark eggs because it seems to me they have some kind of pattern gene showing up. Of the remaining contenders, two of them have faint black striping in their neck feathers. In reading the French standard, it says some black is permissible (

Tête et camail rouge-or à brun ; quelques marques noires possibles)

I hope it hasn't been covered already, but how much black in the neck feathers would be acceptable here in the US? Would my pullets be okay? Both of them looked like this at 3 1/2 months:

Nice girl!

My pullets right now are feathering out very fast, but my most anticipated girl for some reason has a lot of black tickling in her neck. I'm sure it will disappear, she's just a baby, but it seems so unusual. The second pullet is coming along perfectly. My cockerels are still feathering in very slowly but are monsters in size! Too bad, they don't get super-big. The parents to thesse little'uns and their uncles were fast growing chicks too but don't get any bigger than the average Wheatie.

Pics soon.

OldChurchEggery1 - There's no mention of it but most breeds ask for no black or just don't mention black, thus, it is not wanted - , but I believe and don't quote me on this, that a tiny bit is permitted.
