Has anybody ever bred females with some black "ticks" in the hackle feathers? I have one with them and have hatched a few out of her. Im curious to see if it corelates to anything in the male offspring. I would assume that the females will have the hackle ticking Im just wondering if anything will show up in the males.
Jay, I like the stripe in the hackle of the male and female. I know when I breed a female she must have the stripe. I can not really say if it makes a difference since my females have to have it or no breeding pen. When all is said and done we will realize that the stripe , like the slate undercolor has something to do with the White showing up. I believe also that it helps with Body color on the male and female.
So you think that the slate undercolor has something to do with white showing up then? The reason I ask is because I had a cockerel that I got from a friend of mine that had a white feather in each wing but he had really light almost white under color. I'll see if I can find a pic of him.
