Wheaten and Blue wheaten Marans Discussion Thread

I have a pullet who is a little over 25 weeks old and no where near red faced.  What is the average age for a Wheaten Marans to start laying?  Just would like to know if I have 2, 4 or 6 weeks to go for dark eggs!

That's true. I do have a light in the coop if I decide to go that route, but may give the girls a rest.

Here is my Wheaten Marans as of today. She is 27 weeks old. I named her Hershey.......hoping for dark eggs. Looks like it will be a while though.

How frequently do your Wheatens lay?

Mine are 1.5 years, and 10 months. I am getting 02 eggs a day from 4 hens. Most other breeds I have would be giving 2-4 eggs a day at 10 months.

My girls give me an egg every day and a half, approximately. But it really varies with the lines.
