Wheaten and Blue wheaten Marans Discussion Thread

No egg breaks on the first shipment to Arizona, (I'm inf Florida) on the second I sent to California and there was a break or two that got on the other eggs. I sent him another dozen free of charge (except for shipping) and he had no cracks that time. Send me a pm and I'll give you names.

i had no breaks until i started double boxing then suddenly i had breakages. so i went back to no double boxing and they all arrive perfectly again... now how weird is that!

I have this chick that I can't figure out what it is. Could it possibly be a wheat on Maran?

It's a wheaten something. Where did you get the chick?

It's not a Marans. It has yellow legs, and the legs aren't feathered.

I would love some input on these whether they are show quality or not. Was told they were... The roo is supposed to be blue Wheaten. I imagine the pullet is just wheaten?

Firstly, I am no expert. But where did you get these birds from, the colour seems a little off. And how old are they?

The top one looks like it's coming along ok, but the bottom one sort of looks like a mixed roo. Here's a Wheaten/Sex Link cross cockerel:



If yours was a Wheaten Marans Roo, he would be predominately black at that age:

It is blue wheaten, so should be mainly blue.
