Cheryl your not hatching anything?!?!?!?!? No way.....I don't think I read your post correctly! I've been following your hatches for what seem like forever. I guess I will just have to wait patiently for you fill up your 'bators again.

4 and 2 are a great number
i hatched a boat load last year and 70 percent were roo lol , i must of had 20 roo at one point trying to rehome them and i culled somethat was hard to handle i have room to grow out 5 or 6 roo and mantain my flock of 6 ot 10 hens and roo is the numbers i want to keep at all times
any more that that and its to hard to mannage egg color , type,

Just not wheaties (I'm patiently - yeah right!) waiting for eggs or something from Buddy for the rest of my wheatie flock.

AND I was getting a little burnt out on the dust in the bator/brooder room etc...and it's rainy yucky outside...then my lonely cold bators called out to me and while I was picking up my amazing silver pencilled plymouth rock rooster (WOOHOO HE IS AMAZING) from lotsapaints I also got Indian River (Del roo over New Hampshire hens) and Partridge rock eggs. I set them yesterday.... so there!

Agreed, I think I'll end up a bit smaller 1 roo on 6 hens and then a reserve roo
 
Can we chat about hen color. Are there thoughts about keeping only hens on the lighter side? Still the proposed standard coloring but on the lighter side?
