Wheaten and Blue wheaten Marans Discussion Thread

Jan, the barrels in the Row are 55 gallon, the measurements are for the cutout opening I made. The ones in the buildings are 40 gallon. The 55 gallon one is a little larger.

If I ever build another wall it will only be two barrels high and three feet off the ground. I built this Barrel wall about 10 year ago and still is in perfect condition. Long as you stick with the 2x3 openings they are varmit proof.

Okay... I am doin it..

Randy, for the single mating pens , I usually use six female and switch the male at noon each day an a three day cycle. My large mating pens the female will also lose lots of back feathers.

Randy, I culled all my wheaten males because of the white in wing and tail. I only have one male that I raised from eggs I bought from nivtup and the jury is out on him until I see what the chicks look like in a couple of more months. I think you know I do not care what line they are from if they have the type and body I am looking for in a Marans.

and if there anything like my wheaten it will take 7 months for a egg and longer to tell how the roo will look

There's someone in Portland and someone in Beavercreek selling these for pretty cheap. The guy in Portland is selling them for $8/ea if you buy 10. We could go together and load up the trailer if you're interested.
