Wheel Tax GRUMBLE GRUMBLE

why does it bug you? Its their possessions. their property. Why should you dictate what people do with their property?

And don't forget that as the parts, tanks and hoses break down that all the gas, oil, antifreeze, etc is getting dumped into the water supply.

There are laws on the books, public info laws, that might make it where they have to show you where those funds are being spent... donno about your state in particular, but citizens usually can get that info if you snoop (or sue) hard enough. Need to see the annual budget, line for wheel tax, and then what bills were paid out of that account. It's possible that they really are using it for roads... annoying, but look here in my town... teachers/staff are being laid off because of budget problems but new playgrounds are going in... because THOSE were bond items, guaranteed payment no matter a drop in income... but it sure does look weird to see you know?

OK I CAN see the hazard of the oil and anti freeze and gas leaking into the water supply. Then that is an environmental hazard and is more than just an aesthetic problem and a minor annoyance. That is an argument for not having junk cars around I can take.

Well we live in a poor area where there is a high poverty rate and we are not talking about one neighbor having a couple of old cars setting around we are talking about 80 percent of the people in our area if they own more than one vehicle it is cause the other is broken down and up on blocks and that is where it will be cause they can't afford to fix it. So when I can walk down my road and count 90 old junk cars in a few miles yes rodents and mesquetoes do become a problem and if you take time to think about them collecting water for a minute you will realize truck beds collect water, floor boards fill with water when windows are not closed or are broken or when they are rusted through in area that allow water in. I personally do not have a rodent problem. But the neighbor across the road who is just as clean as we are but closer to the problem owners has talked about there issues with it. Our dogs kill rodents and do a great job of it so far. No we do not live near a junk yard and we live out in the country.

Wow that could be a problem if it is a huge number of cars. Like I said if it's aesthetics it's one thing, if it's one or two cars it's one thing if it's a huge number, leaking fuels and collecting huge amounts of stagnate water for mosquitoes, then thats another and I agree with you, it's a health hazard.
