Wheel Tax GRUMBLE GRUMBLE

The Japanese are amazing, efficient, industrious people. WE could take a page or two from how they handle things

Yeah well in Japan their Government take care of them look what happened during Katrina. Then turn around and look how quick the US jumped to help Haiti. The wheel tax only bothers me because it is not used for what they say it is. Then we have to have permitts to build anything around here and they cost money even small sheds on runners. They like to stick it to us. We need to replace the culvert at the end of our drive way but we need a permitt to do it so we will just let it go. The permit cost as much as the pipe.

I would not mind if they made people register the junk cars around here it bugs me to see them setting around. Some people think they are yard ornaments.

why does it bug you? Its their possessions. their property. Why should you dictate what people do with their property?

The old junk cars?? They are an eye sore for one and they trap water and mosquitoes and mice breed in them and infest the area Not to mention how they reduce the property values for their neighbors. It is yuck!

Also, most counties and states have some sort of ordinances about unregistered and junk vehicles, preventing them from sitting in view. Some ordinances require them to be behind a privacy fence as not to interfere with the aesthetic value of a neighbourhood.

All depends on local zoning laws. Most unincorporated areas could care less what kind of eyesores you have. On the upside of that. Permits and such for adding small buildings or upgrading the inside of your house are a lot more lax. You just have to hope that your neighbors at least try to make them look organized and perhaps put them on the other side of their barn or something. That is the reason a lot of people live in the country after all. It isn't just the abundance of flys. They like the freedoms too.

Well I must say we are very fortuanate with our nearest neighbor and they are very clean, neat, tidy and enjoy flowers as much as we do. We can only see one neighbor's house from our house and our church up the road. How ever if we drive over the hill bam it is there in your face. Maybe I will bring up the idea of a nonrunning junk vehicle tax for our county at the next community meeting. That would make the county so much money!

Maybe my road would be repaired then.

And don't forget that as the parts, tanks and hoses break down that all the gas, oil, antifreeze, etc is getting dumped into the water supply.

There are laws on the books, public info laws, that might make it where they have to show you where those funds are being spent... donno about your state in particular, but citizens usually can get that info if you snoop (or sue) hard enough. Need to see the annual budget, line for wheel tax, and then what bills were paid out of that account. It's possible that they really are using it for roads... annoying, but look here in my town... teachers/staff are being laid off because of budget problems but new playgrounds are going in... because THOSE were bond items, guaranteed payment no matter a drop in income... but it sure does look weird to see you know?

If they collect water (I'm not sure how an old car would, but then I don't have any junk cars sitting around so I wouldn't know) They don't breed any more mosquitoes than a pond, and mice breed in them? if they do the mice won't be a problem for you if you keep your house and yard clean and your food stored properly.

And they only reduce property values for people with similar attitudes that the aesthetics of someone else's property somehow affects theirs.

A huge satellite dish is far uglier than a scrap car in someone's yard imo, can I dictate whether someone else puts one up in their yard? It could ( could, not will don't hurt me!) collect mosquitoes. So could someone's large dog dish, Koi pond, duck pool.

I think people spend way too much time worrying about what other people do with their yards.

So glad I live in a rural area.
