Hello, first off, sorry if this is the wrong spot to put this kind of post, but I wasn't too sure where else to post it since it's kinda a health thing regarding our ducks. So we have a couple of pet ducks that we like to take out on trips, but my wife is wheelchair-bound. Our ducks like to follow her around and sometimes a little too close to the wheelchair. As a result, they have sometimes accidentally gotten their feet caught under the wheels (thankfully all it has been is scraps and some broken nails. No broken bones or anything serious at least). We've been trying to rack our brains and figure out how to prevent this as it seems just trying to deter them away from the wheelchair to protect their toes isn't working as they're constantly trying to get close to the wheelchair (she raised them, so they see her as their mother). I've thought about making plastic guards for the sides of the wheelchair, but have no idea where to even begin with that and if it would even work since their toes could probably still slip under it and it can't stretch too far out, otherwise it would be obstructing. Any help or advice to how we might be able to put something together to continue to keep our ducks feet safe when they want to follow her and her wheelchair around would be appreciated!

I also thought of a plastic shield. Do you have a picture of the wheelchair?
I am picturing three pieces of plastic sheets glued together and somehow attached to the back of the wheelchair so that the wheels are fully covered.

I was thinking that too, but it would have to be attached to the sides of the wheelchair itself since the ducks like to walk right next to the wheelchair and sometimes like to rush ahead and suddenly stop as soon as they get in front. Here's a pic of what the wheelchair looks like: Image

I have no idea but I want to say how awesome I think it is that she has duck babies that love her so much and you are being so thoughtful of them. My frosty heart just melted a wee bit.

Since they like to stop in front of the wheelchair, you may want to make the plastic meet at a point in the front so they don’t get ran over. So the plastic would make a pentagon shape.
You may be able to attach the plastic the the metal framing of the wheelchair with u-bolts.
