This is Tuft. He's a little over a year old.

Much like his name suggests, he has a weird tuft-like growth on one side of his head. Because of that, his different coloring from his flockmates (1 male, 2 females), and his significantly smaller size, he used to get bullied quite a bit. To combat that, he now lives inside. One of the injuries he sustained after being attacked by other quail was one of his nostrils being damaged pretty badly.

Since mid-to-late December, he's occasionally become wheezy, with some gurgling in his throat/nose area. Initially there was a little bit of clear discharge from his nostrils, but that's been gone for a month or two now. We thought there may have been an infection in his old nose injury, but over the past two-three weeks, it seems the gurgling has migrated into his chest.

He still crows, and occasionally makes croaking vocalizations. We've had him under a heat lamp intermittently and that seems to help. He still eats, drinks, dust bathes in his wood shavings, and skitters around his enclosure. He seems normal most of the time- no discharge from his eyes, nose, or mouth. The only odd thing about his besides his injury is his somewhat tattered feathers and bald patch on the back of his head that developed after he was removed from the other quail.

Any suggestions on what else we could be doing to help him?
